Leaving Abalone Cove, I headed for the archery range at 1:40 pm
I returned three hours later: The sun was wrong
In-between is Portuguese Bend: ParkMap
This is my favorite area of Palos Verdes. I park at the cove then I walk the bluffs heading down to the ocean through an archery range. On my return I like to stop in at the gorgeous Wayfarers Chapel designed by Loyde Wright (Franks kid). Several years back I was horrified to find the framework of a house on the edge of Portuguese Point (seen in my video). It turned out that it was the film location for “Life as a House” with Kevin Klein. You’d never know it was there. Check out the map link.
Now I’m not so good at this, but could daylight savings time be the culprit here?
You walk through an archery range!?
Is the chapel an open air style? It looks like the most beautiful setting. How fortunate to find the little green “12” right there by the sun dial. You know the sun will burn itself out in about 5 billion years, perhaps it’s getting an early start, or maybe your watch was wrong. Tell me you don’t go walking through artillery ranges also.
I think you live in a time zone of your own making. Even your blog timer doesn’t play by the rules.
But why is time moving backwards, Einstein?
As I recall, Einstein believed that time was not a straight line, but bent or curved.
people, you’ve gotta watch the video!
You were there! I was there, but not at the same time.
Where is the archery range? We’ve never walked down to the beach there cuz not dogs are allowed! We head down from Trump’s (whose name is Mud in PV now – are all city councils so naive when dealing with multi-gazillionares?)
very, very cool sundial… do you remember seeing sundials that used only a qtr of a circle? Now I sort of understand…I’ll have to brush up on my Aztec culture.
Frank Y- I only know from scanning the internet.
I’m very impressed with your sundial.
Your dial would work if the sun circled around your stick through the course of 24 hours. But I like it anyway.
