Ah, PA. That made me weep. I love that mofo cat and I love Charles Bukowski for loving him. I’ll come back to check out the link when I have more time.
I’ve pulled many cats through tough times and know that first moment of possible victory. There is nothing like TLC and talking and true caring. Nothing.
In honor of Bukowski and that cat, please somebody adopt this one from North Central Animal Shelter. Still has a tail but probably’s got some hard luck and character to share.
Did not know you could say motherfucker on the internet! What’s this world coming to? Motherfucker! The youtubers don’t seem to care for Bono judging from the comments left on his reading of Roll the Dice. Another good posting.
Martha: thanks for dropping in. I read that the Valentine Weekend pet adoption was a success. Celebrities even!
AH: “nice”? the death knell of literary adjectives
Andrew: Welcome. You’ll forgive me if I leave the rinky tink typewriter behind (remember when you could purchase rainbow colored ribbon?) your probably to young
Margaret: for me HOTMF runs neck and neck with “The Crunch”
D: According to Mr V such heckling is not unlike attending an actual Bukowski reading:(He: Redondo Beach early 80’s) Drunken insults and threats between aging poet and aging surfers. Par for the course.
I remember my third grade teacher wrote “nice” on the blackboard, accidentally in crayon. So it never erased. Her point was to never, ever use nice, because it meant nothing. And nice was with us all year long.

Wonderful–and so’s the stuff at the link. He was lucky to have Black Sparrow Press–and, of course, it was lucky to have him.

I wonder if I’ll have to pull my legs and torso across the floor with my arms someday. I wonder how I’ll feel about that.
I’ve tried a little of B. No luck, I’m afraid. I realize a lot of people, esp. the young, can’t get enough of him.

Not my favorite writer, either, but knowing this about him makes me like him better as a person.

PA, I hear that, about poetry, believe me. I assume it’s the same with the visual arts?

I just checked out those two videos. The comments under “Roll the Dice” are funny. Hard-core Bukowski fans disgusted with Bono’s reading.

I have to admit this was a really nice story, despite the references to “cat” within the lines.
