I’m worried. Is he ok?

My favorite part–the air plane sound track as the bird landed. Not to worry–since pelicans swallow fish whole, they often have to manipulate the fish in order for the fish to go down head first.

Here at Pasadena Adjacent, we appreciate the expert commentary of QV Zoologist. As witnessed by me “Pasadena Adjacent Ace Reporter” the audience became increasingly disturbed as the pelican continued to manipulate the position of the fish. Several minutes passed but after much effort success was achieved.
This video catches the tail end of applause after the Pelican swallowed

I’m glad I didn’t catch up with this until now. I too would have been a bit worried, though the pelican doesn’t seem overly distressed at any point. So, this bird lets humans fish for it? Pretty smart.

Hey, now you are starting to rival the Animal Planet channel, or something like that. I’ve never actually seen a pelican eat/try to gulp down a fish. Facinating. It sure looks pre-historic.
RE Christo’s umbrellas – like a dummy, I did not go see them. I remember a photo in the LA Times about them and that it was rainy during the time they were up, and P. not wanting to drive to the Grapevine…like it was that far! And the girl who got injured by one (or am I remembering wrong). In the 70’s/or early ’80s, they made a documentary (aired on PBS) about his running fence. I loved it – I liked the farmer who slept by it…and the bit that just ended into the ocean, and it flapping in the wind. Must of been one of his most successful installations.

I’m so glad you included the happy ending.

Hey ACE, I think you’ve got the Venice Canals confused with Ocean beach. Those canals don’t look like that canal any longer. Cool shot, 60’s?
