Our Lake Piru Adventure Continues
by Pasadena Adjacent
Welcome to Lake Piru. After paying ten dollars to enter the park, we drove on to roads end; basically a parking lot. We took off on a gated road near the lot (your only choice). The road leads through a sandstone canyon away from the lake. You walk upstream following the lakes tributary Piru Creek. Not a soul to share in the splendor; like that. The inviting green bottom land? never got down to it. We had to turn around because the park locks it’s gates at 7:30 pm. Next time we’ll head out a little earlier.

Where in the world is Lassie? are you mad at me?
I discovered this in Jerry Schad’s Afoot and Afield in LA County ” Re Lake Piru… “Spotting a soaring condor is possible; spotting a golden eagle or a turkey vulture is somewhat probable; spotting common raptors such as red tailed hawks is virtually certain”
I now believe I saw a golden eagle. See how large she/he is

Has your vehicle ever been locked inside the gate after a park closes? It recently happened here in a cemetery. A lady inside the gate after closing panicked and crashed through the heavy wrought iron gates with her car… while being caputured, license plate and all, on surveilance cameras. And yes, I did view the entire burger clip, unfortunately the video of local gate crashing lady didn’t make it to youtube.

Rin Tin Tin is a more loyal canine. But, I think that Lassie is over wooing Ben now.
My question is where in the world is Petrea?

Can you jump in the lake?

D: some folks just don’t take to being locked up in a cemetery for the night. Seems like a perfectly sensible reaction to me.
CO: Huh! I see you all over the net slathering your affections on all the local chicklets. Do I need to go V-oge on you to get a little respect around here!
Petrea? beats me
AH: I wouldn’t (but your probably drinking it). Piru does have a small area roped off for bathers. You’ll share the sand with three or more boom boxes, large families and trash. Not my cup of tea.
The road I took leads to the presently closed Blue Point camp ground. This is actually where the trail head begins (the one listed in the hiking guides). I think they closed the camp ground due to the birds.

Nice view from here. The highest point in Florida is 365′. I’ve been there, it’s none too impressive. Still, we have lots of raptors, just ask my neighbor, she’ll tell all the about the hawks that swoop down and kill her bluebirds. At least we’re not dealing with condors although I wouldn’t mind, not a bit.

I like the shot of the waves crashing – the horizontals being interrupted by the wavy line.(Oh, that’s where the word “wavy” comes from.)

PA, you obviously got me confused with Lassie.
Besides, you said you just had your 15th birthday. So, it’s safer if I use my k9 tongue to slather my “affections” on the more mature “chicklets.”

If you would like to see the full image of my cropped photo’s (in this post) then I invite you to select one or all. I just figured out how to connect them to my FLIKR account. It’s a fast download
PJ: My steed was a Toyota Taccoma.
365′? that would be hard for me. I can think of no place that makes me happier then being on top of a high ridge. Condors are pretty cool. I saw one feasting on road kill. No problem with identity there.
Shanna: Thank you. Make sure you select the image (it should open up into it’s original full image) more horizontal lines to come; you’ll see
CO: dat a boy! scratch scratch
Ann: I was waiting for someone to pick up on the hat. Isn’t Mr V the fashionistor. I hear the “Little House on the Prairie” look is up and coming. You saw it here first
